Life In Sosua: When the Condom Breaks...

Usually I buy the classic condoms which comes in a light blue box here in the Dominican Republic.  However one day when I went to supermercado pola they didn't have any. So I decided to get one called invisible.

That decision would end up costing me a pretty penny because about a month later and in another city outside of the Sosua area I ended up using the "invisible condom" which  really lived up to its name.

I remember looking down and seeing  my "head" was uncovered. Immediately I was very concerned because I 100% knew I released the swimmers deep inside shorty's ocean.

Fortunately shorty wasn't interested in having my baby, mostly because she already had some.

I think I spent 10,000 pesos on something similar to plan b here in the Dominican Republic. Also on top of that I spent something like 5,000 pesos for her to go to the doctor just to see if she was actually pregnant.

The reason I was paying for it was because she didn't have any insurance, which I haven't done any deep research, but I imagine that that is pretty typical.

To be honest my mind was extremely preoccupied with the situation, because being a father is a big step and something I can honestly say I'm probably not ready for right now.

My mind was put to ease for a moment when we had a chat sitting on the malecon. She told me she wasn't pregnant anymore. When she told me the news I wanted to get her something so I gave her 2000 pesos to spend at La Sirena, which is a Wal-Mart-esque store.

I felt better that my story with her was finished. I stopped talking to her.

But then she messaged me like a week or two later saying that she in fact was still pregnant!

I had to pay like 10,000 more pesos for her to go to the doctor to get a sonogram or something like that.

At that point I was plotting on how I can have a happy secret family. I looked up things on google on how people broke the news about their love child to their parents and what not. I had a lot on my mind.

Basically the end of the story is a very "Hills Like White Elephants" type situation. I suggested adoption she thought I was crazy. She wanted to keep the child. I spent more money. I didn't talk to her that much outside of money stuff. She decided she didn't want the baby and decided to get rid of it.

That cost me 80,000 pesos.

So, the moral of the story is do not buy "invisible" condoms or just don't buy condoms from the  supermercado pola in Sosua.

Life in The Dominican Republic: Airbnb in Europa Plaza Hotel

I was rushed into this room due to a problem with the original Airbnb I was in, but I am glad I was able to experience this place because it's pretty nice

The positives of this place is that everything comes in two's. There are two bathrooms, two bedrooms, two TV's and actually three AC's. However if you try to bring two chicas you have to pay 900 pesos to do that  :(

The internet here is pretty good and really the only thing I can say that is negative is that it can be.a little loud as their is a bar at the bottom floor and even as I am writing there is some sort of construction going on above which is a bit loud.

But overall I would definitely recommend this place for either short stays or long stays

Life In Sosua: You Have To Take A Flight To Get Laid?

Recently I saw a comment that left me befuddled. It asked the question if I left the United States to go to another country in this case the Dominican Republic in order to get laid.

There are so many ways to answer this question. But in short, no. I did not come to the Dominican Republic to get laid.

A few of my original reasons for coming to the Dominican Republic was affordability and stress.

It's very obvious that life in the United States is much more expensive than life in the Dominican Republic.

When life is more expensive this can possibly mean having to work more and enjoying life less, which can create tension and stress within anybody.

To make matters worse we live in a social media culture where we can see many other people enjoying their lives whether it's real or fabricated.

I did not take a flight to get laid. I took a flight out of the United States in order to enjoy a simpler lifestyle.

Now I will say some of the fruits of being in a less stressful situation and being able to comfortably pay for my expenses is that I am able to be in the presence of more women.

When a man is able to comfortably afford his lifestyle, freely be himself and has a generous spirit  in the Dominican Republic then it's easier to find women who appreciate those qualities and find more intimacy and affection.

So, to simply say I came to the Dominican Republic to get laid is like looking at the tree and not the whole forest.

Life In The Dominican Republic: Garden Condos Sosua

If you are looking for an extremely affordable spot and don't mind walking a few extra minutes to get to the beach then, this Airbnb is definitely right for you. It's about a 8-10 minute walk from Playa Sosua and it takes a little bit more time to get to Playa Alicia.

Even though the surrounding area might look a little rough around the edges, this apartment is very nice with a modern look.

My favorite part is just the amount of space that you get with this place for only $19 per night.

Some aspects I would be wary of is that it is right above the street so it can get pretty noisy with all the motos passing by. So if you are looking to have a quiet time in the apartment you might experience some noise disturbance.

As an English teacher I couldn't stay for an extended amount of time because of the noise. But If I wasn't teaching then I would definitely  consider an extended amount of time.
