ESL Conversation Questions: Cuba



1. What comes to your mind when you think of Cuba? 

2. After the end of the Cuban Revolution in 1958 the economic relationship between the United States and Cuba became very bad. In your opinion is it better for a country to be economically prosperous, but heavily under the influence of a stronger country or to have complete autonomy, but as a result suffer economically? 

3. "The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall." - Che Guevara. Do you agree or disagree with this quote? 

4. According to some websites, they say that Cuba is one of the best destinations for solo female travelers. What does this say to you about Cuba? 



5. The literacy rate in Cuba is 99.8%. What can a high or low literacy rate tell you about a country? 

6. If you visited Cuba for a week would you rather stay in a resort near the beach or in a hotel in the middle of the the biggest city, Havana.
